今天英国时间下午三点，英国女王伊丽莎白二世发表了一年一度的圣诞演讲。

一般来说，女王会利用这个机会来总结这一年的重大事件。圣诞演说由女王亲自执笔，是女王少数几次能够在没有政府提供意见的情况下，发表个人看法的机会。

女王每年圣诞节都要发表圣诞演讲，并且会通过广播或电视向52个英联邦国家传播。在去年的演讲中，女王的演讲有800万人观看，成为圣诞节当天收视率最高的节目，超过了2015年750万人观看的纪录。

之所以选择在下午三点播放，是因为大部分英联邦国家的人都可以在这一时间听到她的演讲。今年，是英女王发表的第65次圣诞演讲，并首次在Facebook和YouTube上进行直播。

这个传统最早可以追溯到1932年，女王的祖父乔治五世。从1952年开始，这个演讲由伊丽莎白二世来发表↓↓

从1957年开始，女王的演讲开始以电视转播的方式向全世界直播。唯一的例外是1969年，她写了一封信替代了圣诞演讲↓↓

女王决定这么做的原因是，这一年有一部叫《王室家族》（Royal Family）的纪录片上映，加上查尔斯王子当年被正式授予“威尔士亲王”的名号，女王觉得王室受到了过多的关注，于是决定以写信的方式代替发表电视讲话。

在信里，女王写道：我希望让你们知道，我美好的祝愿同样温暖和私人，它们只是以不同形式呈现。

其实女王的演讲并不叫“The Queen’s Speech”，它的正式的名称是“Her Majesty’s Most Gracious Speech”。

可以说，女王的圣诞演讲是一年的重头戏，被称赞为“最具皇室范儿”、“语速最适中”的英音终极教程。

今年的圣诞演讲和去年一样，都是在白金汉宫录制的。但是对比一下去年圣诞演讲的场景，特别是女王身旁摆的照片，可是大有讲究的。

去年，她右手边是一个菲利普亲王的单人照，而左手边，则是一张她和68岁儿子——查尔斯王子的照片。↓↓

当时有王室专家分析说，这张照片传递出一个信号：女王要传位给查尔斯王子，而不是跳过他，直接传位给威廉王子，不过这事到现在也没得到证实。

今年，女王的右手边放的照片依次是乔治小王子、夏洛特小公主、女王及菲利普亲王今年11月的结婚70周年纪念照及两人1947年的结婚照。

在不远处的壁炉旁边，镜头还拍到了两张照片，一张是查尔斯王子和卡米拉，还有一张就是哈里王子和未婚妻梅根。

可以说，女王把全家都照顾到了。

今年对英国王室来说是喜讯频传的一年，哈里王子宣布和美国女演员梅根·马克尔订婚，婚礼将在明年5月19日在温莎城堡的圣乔治教堂举行。

凯特王妃也怀上三胎，估计在明年4月为王室再添一名新成员。

昨晚的平安夜，梅根以哈里王子未婚妻的身份，出席了英国王室在桑德林汉姆宫（Sandringham）举行传统的圣诞晚宴，打破了当年凯特和卡米拉都没能打破的“没过门的媳妇”不能参加王室圣诞晚宴的传统。

今早，梅根又和其他王室成员一道去圣玛利亚教堂（St Mary Magdalene）进行礼拜，再次打破传统，在未正式成为王室成员之前就与王室一同礼拜。

所以在演讲发布之前，不少英媒都在猜测女王会不会提到哈里和梅根订婚的消息。

这次在女王的演讲中，虽然没有提到梅根的名字，但是很巧妙地说道：我期待着明年王室新成员们的加入。一语双关，既代表了欢迎梅根，又欢迎了凯特的第三个孩子。

之前，伦敦大学学院（UCL）的专家们研究了女王从1951年到2016年发表的64次圣诞演讲，总结出一些特点，女王一共用过4.2万个词，但是只有3991个词从来没有重复过。

这么算下来，女王的演讲中只有9.5%的词是新词。可以说，女王的演讲都是套路啊！

女王在演讲里经常重复的词有：

• families（家庭）

• Commonwealth（英联邦）

• children（儿童）

• peoples（人民）

经常重复用的短语有：

• tragic example（悲惨的例子）

• shining example（杰出的榜样）

• weak and innocent（弱小又无辜的）...

2016年女王演讲的主题是“鼓舞人心（inspiration）”，今年，演讲的主题为“家（home）”。

女王在演讲中，阐释了“家”的意义：

“我们把家当成温馨、熟悉和爱的来源,共享记忆和故事。这也就是为什么每到圣诞大家都会回到家乡，对家乡的思念是永恒的。对大家而言，家不仅仅是一栋房子，也不是家乡或者一个城市……我们希望家园是安全的，甚至是避难所。”

在今年5月，白金汉宫宣布了现年96岁的菲利普亲王在今年秋季退休的决定，英国女王对此表示支持。1952年至今，菲利普亲王单独执行了22219项王室公务，菲利普亲王此后将不再单独承担王室公务，但仍会以女王丈夫的身份陪女王出行。

在演讲中，女王特别用一整段来感谢菲利普亲王的支持，她还称赞了菲利普亲王“独特的幽默感”。

女王在演讲中还特别提到了伦敦和曼彻斯特今年经历的恐袭，称赞她去看望的幸存者是“所有人的榜样，展现了极强的勇气和抵抗力”。

还有提到了伦敦的格林菲尔大火，说是“没人能忘记的悲剧”。

关于“Merry Christmas” 的说法，可追溯到1534年，但它真正的流行则是在狄更斯在1843年出版的《圣诞颂歌》后。因为他在里面中多次用到了“Merry Christmas” 。商家也顺势而为，推出了写有这句话的圣诞贺卡，于是“A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to You”像买一送一捆绑销售一样，成功洗脑了一代又一代人。

“Merry Christmas” 如此流行，为何女王在每年做圣诞演讲时，都只说“Happy Christmas”呢？

因为Merry的原意是“jovial,and outgoing，probably mildly intoxicated”，就是天性活泼的，可能还有些醉了。在1840年代推出的第一批Merry Christmas贺卡，场景中也是一家人饮酒作乐。

所以，“最长待机”的女王在每年的圣诞讲话中都会不疾不徐地道一声：Happy Christmas，而不是Merry Christmas了。

Sixty years ago today, a young woman spoke about the speed of technological change as she presented the first television broadcast of its kind. She described the moment as a landmark:

"Television has made it possible for many of you to see me in your homes on Christmas Day. My own family often gather round to watch television as they are at this moment, and that is how I imagine you now."

六十年前的今天，一个年轻女子在第一次电视演讲时提到科技进步的飞速，她把那一刻称为里程碑：

Six decades on, the presenter has ‘evolved’ somewhat, as has the technology she described. Back then, who could have imagined that people would one day be watching this on laptops and mobile phones – as some of you are today. But I’m also struck by something that hasn’t changed. That, whatever the technology, many of you will be watching this at home.

We think of our homes as places of warmth, familiarity and love; of shared stories and memories, which is perhaps why at this time of year so many return to where they grew up. There is a timeless simplicity to the pull of home.

For many, the idea of “home” reaches beyond a physical building – to a home town or city. This Christmas, I think of London and Manchester, whose powerful identities shone through over the past twelve months in the face of appalling attacks. In Manchester, those targeted included children who had gone to see their favourite singer. A few days after the bombing, I had the privilege of meeting some of the young survivors and their parents.

I describe that hospital visit as a “privilege” because the patients I met were an example to us all, showing extraordinary bravery and resilience.

Indeed, many of those who survived the attack came together just days later for a benefit concert.It was a powerful reclaiming of the ground, and of the city those young people call home.

We expect our homes to be a place of safety – “sanctuary” even – which makes it all the more shocking when the comfort they provide is shattered.

A few weeks ago, The Prince of Wales visited the Caribbean in the aftermath of hurricanes that destroyed entire communities.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who died and those who lost so much; and we are indebted to members of the emergency services who risked their own lives, this past year, saving others.Many of them, of course, will not be at home today because they are working, to protect us.

Reflecting on these events makes me grateful for the blessings of home and family, and in particular for 70 years of marriage.

I don’t know that anyone had invented the term “platinum” for a 70 wedding anniversary when I was born. You weren’t expected to be around that long.Even Prince Philip has decided it’s time to slow down a little – having, as he economically put it, “done his bit”.

In 2018 I will open my home to a different type of family: the leaders of the fifty-two nations of the Commonwealth, as they gather in the UK for a summit.

Today we celebrate Christmas, which itself is sometimes described as a festival of the home. Families travel long distances to be together.

Volunteers and charities, as well as many churches, arrange meals for the homeless and those who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.
